“StayHomeSafe” Mobile App User Guide

  • If you are subject to compulsory quarantine, you have to put on a wristband.
  • If you have a smartphone, you have to install "StayHomeSafe" mobile app.
  • Upon installation, please choose a language on the app then press [Add Wristband] button and scan the QR code on your wristband.
  • If your family members are also subject to quarantine, please scan the QR codes on their wristbands one by one. When finished, press [Submit] button.
  • Input the contact number you provided in the Quarantine Order (no country code is required) and the PIN, and then press [Sign Up] button.
  • When finished, press [I AM NOW AT THE PLACE of QUARANTINE] button on the app. Walk slowly in your home as instructed, including living room, dining room, bedrooms, washroom and kitchen, etc. for one minute to complete the activation.
  • During the quarantine period, the app will detect and analyse the environmental communication signals at your dwelling place, such as Bluetooth, Wi-Fi and geospatial signals in the neighbourhood, and their respective strengths.
  • If a change of such signals is detected, the app will record it. During the quarantine period, if you are found to have left the dwelling place without permission, the Government will take further actions, such as conducting spot checks, making a prosecution or issuing a wanted warrant.
  • The detection and analysis of environmental signals do not involve collection of personal data. The app will not read any information in your smartphone.
  • During the quarantine period, you must put on the wristband. You can take shower, but avoid soaking the wristband in water for too long.
  • You must keep the "StayHomeSafe" mobile app running on your smartphone, and turn on the "Bluetooth", "Wi-Fi", "location service" functions. Don't take off or damage the wristband. Don't deactivate or uninstall the app deliberately.
  • Please pay attention to your smartphone, the app may at any time request you to confirm your presence at your dwelling place by scanning the QR code on your wristband. Upon expiry of the quarantine period, you may uninstall the app on the smartphone, cut off and dispose of the wristband.
